27 Binge-Worthy Fiction Books To Add To Your Kindle

27 good fiction books to add to your kindle

27 good fiction books to add to your kindleThere’s never been a better time to curl up with your kindle for a long, luxurious morning of binge-reading through a fun novel. There’s something invigorating and magical about finishing a good book. (For me, it’s energizing in the way that binge-watching Netflix isn’t.) I haven’t done research on it, but I’m pretty sure it’s something about the way that reading fires up the imagination, so my brain is working in a different way than when I’m watching a story unfold on a screen. Since libraries are closed right now and Amazon delivery is behind, I’m sharing my favorite 27 binge-worthy fiction books to add to your kindle. Hooray for instant downloads! (This is the kindle that I own. If you don’t have one yet, this month is the perfect time to go ahead and grab one.)

I’m trying to finish two books per week during this shelter-in-place. I have a baby in the house, so free time is a bit more scarce, but I’m still able to find little pockets of time to curl up with a good book. (Or listen to an audiobook…big fan of those!) Right now, I’m focusing on books that just feel FUN. There are so many hard things going on in the world, so I’ve decided that right now isn’t the time to focus on challenging, deep books. I just want fun stuff.

I love reading books and keeping track of all of them (see all my reads from 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019), so  I though I’d comb through all of them and pick out the binge-worthiest fiction books that you should add to your kindle right now.

27 Binge-Worthy Fiction Books To Add To Your Kindle

1. Fitness Junkie. If you like The Devil Wears Prada, you’ll like this one! The CEO of a couture wedding dress company is determined to shed 30 pounds after an unflattering photograph of her at a fashion show eating a bruffin hits the tabloids. Her best friend and business partner, Beau, gets her to try everything: green juice, naked yoga, and even a secret cult workout. This book is hilarious and light and fun!

 2. Where The Crawdads SingIt’s on all of the best-seller lists for a reason! Where The Crawdads Sing was one of my favorite un-put-downable novels last year. It’s heartfelt and sweet, fast-paced and exciting.

3. Daisy Jones and the Six. EASILY the best audiobook I’ve heard! The cast of characters is incredible. This story is about a fictional rock band from the 70s, told memoir-style so it almost feels like a nonfiction book. The story instantly swept me away and painted a perfect picture of life in the 70s. I mean…I wasn’t alive then, but I could imagine it perfectly. Read this book!

4. What To Say NextKit is a popular high school student who is grieving the loss of her father. David is a bullied high school student with aspbergers. Their friendship is unlikely, but that’s not what makes this book so surprising.

5. Astonish Me. Woah…this book grabbed my attention and didn’t let go! The world of professional ballet is fascinating to me; the competition, starvation, thirst for the spotlight…it’s all so intense. Joan’s life has been shaped by ballet from an early age. But she becomes pregnant and gets married, and her career slowly declines. As she begins teaching and watching her own son, Harry, become a ballet prodigy, secrets are revealed from Joan’s past life as a professional ballerina that threaten to disrupt her life.

6. The KnockoffI’m listing one more book by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza because, omg, these are just so fun! The Knockoff is about Imogen Heap, editor-in-chief of a glossy fashion magazine. She’s revered by the fashion world until…her young assistant, Eve, comes back from business school and threatens to re-launch Glossy as an app. The Knockoff is fast-paced and fun and definitely one of my favorite binge-worthy fiction books!

7. Everything I Never Told YouCeleste Ng’s debut novel from 2014 is still one of my favorite books. It’s instantly gripping and has the perfect amount of mystery. It’s about a Chinese-American family whose middle daughter (Lydia) is found drowned in a lake. Totally binge-worthy for a weekend at home.

8. This Is How It Always IsThis one is a pick from Reese Witherspoon’s book club, and it’s one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. Claude is the youngest of five boys, and he says that when he grows up, he wants to be girl. His parents tell him they he can be whomever he wants to be, but they keep the true Claude a secret in order to protect him…until they can’t. This is an endearing story about parenting and the true love of a family.

9. The Bright Side Of DisasterKatherine Center’s books are fun and light and easy to read, but they always focus on a heavier topic (so they’re not too fluffy.) The Bright Side of Disaster is about a young and very pregnant woman whose fiancé runs out on her…the day before she goes into labor. Suddenly she’s thrust into single motherhood and sleep deprivation and a life she never expected. I read it before I was a mother, and I loved it! Now that I’m a mom, I’m sure I would enjoy it even more.

10. Crazy Rich AsiansEven if you’ve seen the movie, read the book, too! They have some significant differences. I read my way through all three of the books in this trilogy, and while they all qualify as binge-worthy fiction books, the first one is definitely my favorite.

11. Castle of WaterAs far as binge-worthy fiction books go, this one is way high on my list. It’s touching and funny, and just a teensy bit sad (just the right amount, I promise!). Sophie is heading to French Polynesia on her honeymoon, and Barry is escaping NYC to seek creative inspiration in art. But when their plane goes down, these two sole survivors are stranded hundreds of miles from civilization and have to depend on one another to survive. I know, it sounds like it might be a kinda cheesy deserted-island-survival-game-show type novel, but it’s not! It is SO good. I couldn’t put it down!

12. One True LovesHonestly, any Taylor Jenkins Reid novel is a good bet for a binge-worthy read, but One True Loves is one of the best, most unique love stories I’ve read. Emma is in love with her high school sweet heart and marries him in her early twenties. On their first wedding anniversary, his helicopter goes missing and he’s announced dead…and Emma has to grieve him and learn to move on with her life. Years later, in her thirties, she falls in love with an old friend and gets engaged to him and is ready for happiness again. Until…her first husband appears in her life again, and she has to make a choice. Who is her one true love: her husband, or her fiancé? I’ll be honest: this one has a tinge of sadness to it, so if you need a book that’s 100% happy and light, this probably isn’t it. But if you’re like me and enjoy the rainbow of emotions that comes from reading a good book, this is it.

13.  The PartyA Sweet Sixteen party goes horribly wrong, and Jeff and Kim Sanders are about to have to face the consequences…. Their perfectly crafted life in an upper-class San Francisco suburban neighborhood is about to come completely unraveled. This book was recommended to me because I loved Liane Moriarty’s “Big Little Lies,” and I completely agree! If you loved that book, you’ll probably love “The Party.”

14. Summer of ’69. Elin Hilderbrand’s first historical fiction novel is a really fun one! She set the novel in 1969 because that’s the year she was born….its also the year that American soldiers were being deployed to Vietnam, man walks on the moon, and a whole slew of other historic events are happening. The story follows 4 siblings and is very Elin Hilderbrand-y…haha! There’s some drama, some scandal, and a lot of relatable moments. Her books are, to me, the perfect light, easy summer reads when I just want to relax and not have to think very hard. ????

15 .The Things We Cannot SayFor those of you who love WWII fiction, this one is excellent. It’s a little bit different because the story jumps back and forth between modern life and Nazi-occumpied Poland. You can read the teaser on Amazon, but I’ll just say this: lots of WWII fiction focuses on life in concentration camps, and this one is different yet equally emotional.

16. One Day In DecemberTotally light and breezy! This is the perfect little chick lit novel to pick up for an easy read in the evenings with a glass of wine. Laurie sees a stranger through a bus window…their eyes lock, they have a moment of pure attraction, and then…it’s over and she doesn’t see him again. She spends a year looking for him and can’t find him until her BFF Sarah happily introduces him as her new boyfriend, completely oblivious that this is the man that Laurie has been searching for. Happy and heartwarming and not (totally) predictable, this story is one of my favorites.

17. Swear On This LifeI’m a pretty quick reader, but I purposely read this one slowly and savored each chapter because I just didn’t want it to end. I dragged the ending out as long as possible, haha! Here’s the plot: a bestselling novel from an anonymous author called “J. Colby” grabs Emeline’s attention, because… it’s about her. It’s the story of her, and her childhood best friend, Jase, who fell in love in a poor town in Ohio. But she hasn’t seen Jase in a decade, and she’s equally flattered that he wrote about her and enraged that he used their story to write a bestseller. Lots of sultry romance in this one, y’all!
18. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn HugoIf you read Daisy Jones and the Six, you’ll love this one! It’s another one of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s binge-worthy fiction books. Evelyn Hugo is a (fictional) iconic film star who rose to fame in the 1950s. In addition to her Oscar win for Best Actress and a long line of box office hits behind her, Evelyn Hugo is famous for having been married seven times…and outliving all of them. She contacts a young, no-name journalist in NYC and wants to give away all her secrets to be written in a biography, worth millions and millions of dollars. But why?? I guessed and I was completely wrong! But I couldn’t put this book down until I got to the very last page!

19. The Paris WifeHere’s another one for those of you who love historical fiction. It’s about 10 years old, but still SO good. This novel captures the love affair between Ernest Hemingway and his wife, Hadley. It’s a whirlwind of a book! I didn’t know much about Ernest Hemingway’s life before reading this one, so in addition to being an entertaining book to read with a glass of wine, it’s slightly educational, too. 😉

20. Someday, Someday, MaybeIf you adore Gilmore Girls as much as I do, you need to read this novel written by Lauren Graham (the actress who plays Lorelai.) The plot is about a young girl living in NYC who desperately wants to make it big as a star. It’s written in the first person, and it honestly reads just like Lorelai’s witty and fast-paced monologues. I 100% adored this book!

21. Big Little LiesAll of them are binge-worthy fiction books, but Big Little Lies remains my very favorite Liane Moriarty novel. It’s now a hit HBO series, but go back and read the novel, too!

22. Gods in AlabamaJoshilyn Jackson’s books are some of my favorite to binge via audio, because the author narrates the books herself and she’s a fantastic reader! If you have a little one and you’re spending lots of hours pushing the stroller around the neighborhood and need something to listen to, download any of her books. (She has this southern accent that’s perfect for where her books take place, and she nails the characters perfectly.) Gods in Alabama is about Arlene Fleet, a white college student in Chicago who swore she’d never return to her small, racist town in Alabama. But when her African-American boyfriend gives her an ultimatum (introduce him to the family or break up) she’s faced with a difficult decision. There’s a little bit of everything in this one: murder, mystery, love, discrimination, and deception. It’s just the perfect binge-worth fiction book to add to your kindle.

23. The Cuckoo’s CallingJ.K. Rowling (author of Harry Potter, duh) used the name Robert Galbraith for this series of contemporary crime fiction. Start with The Cuckoo’s Calling and then enjoy binging your way through all four books, because as soon as you finish one you’ll want to immediately pick up the next. (Apparently, the fifth book is coming out in September 2020! Yessss.)

24. Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely FineThis book is adorable and completely won me over.. I listened to it as an audiobook and loved it! Eleanor Oliphant is a slightly dysfunctional adult who has managed to figure out a way to go through a perfectly structured life by avoiding as many social exchanges as possible. The book is written in the first person, and I love her commentary on typical daily interactions like office small talk, finding a seat on public transportation, and shaking hands. So precious. Through a whole series of events, her world is turned upside-down and her past is gradually revealed, showing the reader how she ended up the way she did. This book is triumphant and quirky and an all-around fun read!

25. Where The Forest Meets The Stars. If you enjoyed Where The Crawdads Sing, you’ll probably like this one. It also has some of the same sort of marsh/Bio research stuff (though not as much as Crawdads), has a bit of romance, some mystery, and it’s rooted in a fantastical feel, which I love.  This is definitely a binge-read-on-the-weekend sort of book. It’s about Jo Teale, a woman who is doing her graduate research on birds in rural Illinois. She has recently battled breast canceled and undergone a double mastectomy, and she’s throwing herself headfirst into her work and avoiding most social interactions as she recovers from past relationships. She lives alone and works alone until a young girl, covered in bruises, appears on her property, claiming to be an alien who was sent from the stars to see 5 miracles on earth. Jo and her hermitlike neighbors, Gabe, can’t find any information on this little girl, who calls herself Ursa. Why isn’t she listed on the missing children’s website? Why is she so adamant to not talk to the police? And as good things keep happening in her presence, Jo and Gabe wonder..could she actually have been sent from the stars?

26. The Whisper Network. This was one of Reese Witherspoon’s book club picks, and it’s fast and fun and deep all at the same time. It’s a novel about a four women, all with varying relationship to their CEO, who are dealing with the aftermath of his sudden and cataustrophic death. There have been secrets and gossip and whispers about the way that he’s treated in female colleagues in the past, and his death brings everything up to the surface. It’s a lot like The Morning Show on Apple TV: completely addicting, fun to consume, but it also really makes you think about our work culture and the #MeToo movement.

27. City of GirlsGive me any Elizabeth Gilbert fiction and I’ll tear right through it! Her newest book is so much fun to read! Silly and serious all at the same time. This novel takes the reader into New York City in the 1940s and follows Vivian, a 19-year-old girl who has (more or less) been kicked out of her home by her parents and sent to NYC to live with her Aunt Peg, who owns and operates a theater. Vivian quickly falls into the New York social scene by befriending the playhouse’s showgirls, and she indulges in all of the magic that NYC nightlife has to offer her….but not without making some mistakes, growing, and learning along the way.
