Say hello to The Wayback Cafe and Cottages, the newest boutique hotel to grace Austin’s scene! Rachel and I drove out to Hill Country to check out the new space and enjoy lunch at the adorable cafe.
Although, I have to say….the beautiful grounds made me feel like I was much farther away from Austin than I really was! The drive from my South Austin home was just 17 minutes, but The Wayback feels worlds away! It’s on a quiet, hilly property on Bee Cave Rd with large trees and a relaxing ambiance. Austinites: this would make a fun little getaway if you want to do a staycation in your own city.
Quick facts about The Wayback:
- It’s a group of boutique cottages that guests can rent. There are 8 cottages, and each one hosts 2-5 people. The owner allowed us to walk through some of them, and they’re so darling! I couldn’t stop snapping pics the entire time. Nate and I need to stay here for an overnight getaway sometime soon.
- The café offers meals for overnight and walk-in guests. It’s such a sweet, bright, beautiful space where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner on Mon-Sat, and brunch on Sundays.
- The salt water pool is the perfect place to lounge and enjoy refreshments. The pool is for guests and cabana club members only.
- A drive-thru morning coffee bar is great for espresso and breakfast on the run. Turn right immediately after entering, and grab an iced latte and a coconut yogurt parfait to-go. It’s open Mon-Sat, 7 am – 10 am.
^ So darling, right? Every cottage had me ooh-ing and ah-ing. Mother/daughter duo Vicki and Sydney designed the space beautifully (and they are two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, I might add.)
After touring the grounds, we wined and dined at the cafe. Our lunch included a cheese board with four cheeses, fig and currant preserves, and house pickles, Winter Squash with Pork Chili and Cornbread, a scrumptious Beef Burger on a House Brioche, and a Coconut Yogurt Parfait for dessert.
Swooon! Add this place to your bucket list, friends! Whether you’re booking an overnight stay, or you’re just stopping by to enjoy a bottle of wine with your girlfriends, everything at The Wayback is absolutely lovely. I truly can’t say enough great things about this place.
