Need Wifi AND Beer in Austin?Need Wifi AND Beer in Austin? Here's Where To Go!

It’s 2017, and we’re no longer moderately surprised when someone says, “I started my own company and I’m an independent worker.” In fact, it seems that it’s harder to find someone who fits the 9-5 mold than it is to find a entrepreneur or small business owner.

This means when the clock strikes 5:00, the day isn’t over…. Running your own company often means working until 9, 10, maybe midnight? And while the idea of working in a charming coffee shop at 9 am sounds nice, at 9 pm you want a different vibe. When you need an IPA to go along with your wifi, I’ve got you covered!

Austin coffee shops are finicky… Some of them shut off their wifi at 5 pm, others have coffee but no beer, and some are only open until 7 pm, which is far too early if you still have a couple hours of work left in ya.

The following places all have 1) BEER, 2) Wifi, and 3) Late hours.

1. Spokesman Coffee and Beer

Where To Find Beer and Wifi in Austin

Located in The Yard at St. Elmo (south Austin’s up-and-coming public market), Spokesman Coffee and Beer has a biker feel to it.. In fact, if you ride in on two wheels on Tuesdays, you get a $3 selected pint!

The tall ceilings and graffiti-covered walls give off an energetic vibe for your late night hours of work. Oh, and beer list is pretty good, too! In addition to all of the “standard” Austin brews (Hops & Grain, ABW, Real Ale, Live Oak), they have some newer guys in the mix, too (NXNW, Pinthouse Pizza).

2. Stonehouse Coffee and Bar

Stonehouse is in the newly renovated Dawson Stone House on South Lamar. While this street isn’t known for its easy parking, Stonehouse is lucky to have a fairly large parking lot. The space is bright and airy, and there’s a large front deck if the weather isn’t too hot.

In addition to beer, they also serve wine, gelato, coffee, tea, and pastries.

3. Wright Bros Brew & Brew

One of the bars in Austin that manages to “do it all,” Brew & Brew churns out really nice pour-overs in the morning, offers an impressive list of coffee roasters from around the globe, and they have a hefty beer list for late nights. Visit on a cool night, and they’ll have the garage doors rolled up so you can  see the glow of downtown Austin.

4. Thai Fresh

You might think that a Thai restaurant doesn’t scream “beer and wifi.” But this gluten-free bakery, coffeeshop, and Thai restaurant has a cozy, coffeeshop vibe while also serving amazing Thai food. It’s one Austin’s favorite Thai restaurants!

Grab a beer, get to work…and if you get hungry? Just order a pad thai or some drunken noodles!

Apanas now has two locations. I’ve only ever tried the South Congress bar, and I was impressed with its beer list! There’s a calm atmosphere that caters to those who work best with few distractions.

Two locations: Domain and South Congress

6. Buzzmill Coffee

This 24-hour East Riverside spot has a lumberjack theme goin’ on.  The giant outdoor patio is great in the cooler months, and there’s plenty of indoor seating when the summer heat kicks in. The draft beer lists rotates for those who always needs something new. Or, be especially adventurous and try one of their handmade “elixirs,” like Strawberry Basil Mint Vodka!

7. Halcyon

It feels more like a bar than a coffee shop, but I’ve seen my fair share of people at Halcyon with  their laptops open at 11 pm, sipping on a beer or a cocktail, grinding out a few late-night hours of work. Parking can be a bit tough downtown, especially at night, so consider taking an rideshare.

8. Cenote

It’s an east Austin staple! Cenote is a neighborhood patio cafe in a renovated house from 1887. The vintage furniture and electric blue walls add pizzazz (as if east Austin was lacking in that…). There’s also a kitchen and a great menu if you get the midnight munchies.

This vegetarian neighborhood cafe is always hoppin during the weekend brunch hours and there can often be an hour-long wait to get inside. But for a late-night work session, you might have a little better luck snagging a table. Get there before 7 pm for their happy hour and a $3.25 draft beer.

10.  Hops & Grain Tap Room

Hops & Grain has firmly established itself on the Austin beer scene. Their east Austin tap room has lots of big tables, which are perfect for a group of 7-8 who need a place to meet up, grab a drink, and get some brainstorming done. This giant tap room also has coffee!
